Mr Jago was employed between 1959 and 1982 as a painter and decorator. He was frequently exposed to asbestos dust during this time due to working alongside laggers who were stripping out old asbestos lagging and renewing it. He would also have to sweep up the asbestos dust as part of his job and was never provided with any protective clothing.
Mr Jago later went on to develop mesothelioma as a result of his exposure to asbestos dust and with help from specialist solicitors he recovered £67,500 compensation. His thank you letter read:
“We cannot praise you enough for all the work you have done on our behalf. Your kind and caring attitude to us was a great comfort. Even if the outcome of this claim had not succeeded we are happy to have known you and we thank you most sincerely. We just wish it had been in happier circumstances
