Widow receives compensation after her husband died of asbestos cancer mesothelioma

A plumber, who was a member of brought proceedings for compensation following exposure to asbestos. He was not provided with protective breathing equipment or warned of the dangers of asbestos dust.

Even though the claim started during his lifetime, Mr Hines died before his case reached court. It was necessary for his widow to take the case to the door of the court in order to receive proper compensation.

An extract from her thank you letter said “I would like to thank sincerely for their help and support during this difficult period, and for appointing and the barrister who represented me at court. Mr Tollitt worked hard to bring about this result, I am indebted to him, and to my husband’s fellow trade union members for statements made in support of my case
